Tank, washbasin

Valdama 2026

“There have always been British motorcycle fuel tanks in the studio. Solitary objects, scattered throughout the space like metal sculptures, capable of conveying their form even before their function, discernible only to the passionate eye. Compact volumes, shaped by the flow, in which containment and aerodynamics coincide. Tank stems from this observation. A compact washbasin, with a soft, continuous form, conceived as a single, controlled volume.

The internal shelf becomes a structural and functional element, organising the space and accompanying the gesture, and can also accommodate the tap. Designed to be placed in a corner or on a shelf, Tank allows for freedom of orientation depending on spatial requirements and the position of the tap.

As an architect, I have always regarded my work as a designer as the opportunity to create small-scale architecture; fragments of landscapes capable of embracing gestures, light, memory and function. Domestic, intimate architecture, to be lived in and truly touched.” Marialaura
