“I like weaving projects together into a continuous and coherent journey of exploration, and then, suddenly, breaking the mould.
Pavè stems from this concept of design evolution: a project conceived for one company becomes, through osmosis, something else entirely with a company that works with a different material and produces different types of product.

Years ago we designed a mosaic called Psaico: a rectangular tile that ‘breaks free’ from the classic pattern and finds its own modularity within a 30×30 format. Once laid, the design appears as a random pattern, but conceals a very precise architectural modularity.

And so the collection for Mohebban was born: the tile enlarges, grows in height and changes material. The modular logic of the installation remains the same. This gives rise to hand-knotted material islands, pleasant to
walk on barefoot, where even the two-tone effect becomes soft.” Marialaura
